When Jeremiah Harris dies, his consciousness is supposed to be uploaded to the digital retirement home, Everafter, where he’d be joined by his wife and they’d live happily ever after in an easy and well-deserved retirement.
However, he wakes up in a digital nightmare, as the only player in a brand new MMORPG called Paxor Seven. With no way to contact the outside world for help, not knowing where his wife is, he has to navigate a hostile environment, threatened by enemies and an apathetic corporation unwilling to admit there’s been a terrible mistake. His only option is to play the game to try and prevent his account from being deactivated, because if that happens, his consciousness will be lost forever.
