1917 is a world war one movie. When the Germans pull back from their trenches to set a trap for the British army a couple soldiers are given a special mission warn the British army to prevent the loss of 1600 soldiers. To do this they have to cross into no man's land where the Germans withdrew from. One of the soldiers has a brother in the British army that will be wiped out if they don't complete the mission in time.
This is not your average war movie, especially for world war one. Normally the movies are about trench warfare. This movie is spent outside the trenches. What makes this movie interesting is that it focuses on the moral dilemmas the soldiers face during the mission combined with some truly unique situations I haven't seen covered in war movies before.
Its a great movie. If you're in the mood for a war movie, put this one at the top of the list. You can watch it on Netflix.
