When I got into LitRPG I was intrigued by the concept and woefully underwhelmed by the quality of what I found available, even on the TOP 10 LISTS of LitRPG!!! Its one of the reasons I was inspired to write my own. While my first LitRPG should be out around November, I have good news, you don't have to wait until then to get your hands on a good one.
Before I get into it you might be wondering, what the heck is LitRPG? It stands for Litterary Roleplaying Game. The main character is playing a game, often an MMORPG. It will include player stats as well as a lot of the things you'd see in a MMOROG.
That takes us to Dungeon Crawler Carl by Matt Dinniman. The premise of this story is aliens come to earth to mine resources from the planet but there's a twist. The real profit is to be had from a universally televised game show where all of the industrial product of earth is reconstructed into a dungeon where survivors battle to reach the bottom level and, if they beat the dungeon, can reclaim the rights to earth.
The main character, Carl, is traversing the dungeon with his girlfriends show cat, Princess Doughnut. Its defiantly adult, funny, gritty, and gory. I loved it. The audio version was very well read. If you're interested in getting started in LirRPG or have been reading it for a while, do yourself a favor and check out Dungeon Crawler Carl!
Seth McFarland and Universal International Studios just bought the rights to DCC.

I was hoping for more, but that might not happen. They are looking at trying to do a short series similar to what Netflix is doing.
Great series!
